Why are certifications important for clothing manufacturer?

There are dozens of standards and certifications for different aspects of the garment industry. Fashion brands usually find it difficult to understand the standards and certifications that should be part of their supply chain. To help you understand the basics of what fashion brands look for when evaluating garment manufacturers: Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

GOTS is the leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social standards, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. In order to provide a credible assurance to consumers, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) sets requirements for ensuring the organic status of textiles from harvesting through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, as well as labeling. For this certification, the textile products being made must contain at least 70% organic fibers. In addition, strict environmental and toxicological criteria need to be met. There is no doubt that a manufacturer with GOTS certification is committed to protecting the environment while producing high-quality organic fabrics due to its advanced social criteria, detailed quality assurance system, and environmental criteria along the whole organic textile supply chain. ISO 9001:2015

The International Organization for Standardization, the world's largest standards organization, created one of the most widely used quality management systems (QMS). ISO 9001 certification ensures that a manufacturer's products and services meet customer and regulatory requirements. OEKO-TEX

The Oeko-Tex Association issues 6 product-related labels Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex, Made in Green by Oeko-Tex, Leather Standard by Oeko-Tex, Eco Passport by Oeko-Tex, STeP by Oeko-Tex label, and Detox to Zero by Oeko-Tex. In addition to the way the fabric is processed, including dyes and finishes, Oeko-Tex certification also inspects how the fabric is manufactured. Textiles and materials are tested by OEKO-TEX® for harmful substances based on their intended use. Textiles and fabrics certified by Oeko-Tex are free of harmful chemicals and are safe for use. Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI)

Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) is an industry-led initiative that monitors and assesses workplace standards globally. Increasingly, companies are expected to ensure not only that their businesses are responsible, but also that their suppliers demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility. Observing social compliance is a continuous process that shows that business is striving to protect the environment, the health, and the safety of their employees, as well as the lives and communities of those involved in their supply and distribution chains. Trazzor holds all four of these major certifications to ensure the products we deliver meet international regulations.
